On 11 May 2009 Guy Ellis and Jessica Reznik visited Rossmar & Graham to inspect the Tatum Village accounts. They specifically asked to see all the accounts including the petty cash account and all receipts from petty cash as well as accounting records for the money received by the board for the block party at the end of 2008 and the bake sale during the community yard sale at the beginning on 2009. Rossmar & Graham stated that they had requested the petty cash records and receipts from the board but the board has refused to provide this information. The Tatum Village board is breaking the law under
A.R.S. 33-1805 which provides "...
all financial and other records of the association shall be made reasonably available for examination by any member..."

Today I was talking to some renters who had been thinking about buying a house here in Tatum Village. They said that after hearing about what has happened with the board that they were no longer considering buying a house and would not consider it again until democracy was returned to the community. i.e. The board's current actions are adversely affecting the price of your house.

A
letter to the community was distributed today to thank the supporters of democracy in the community and inform them about what is happening.

An
introductory letter and a
spending spree letter (read comments at bottom of letter) were received by most of the community from the board today. Can you believe that they racked up $5,400 in legal fees (
your money) in order to prevent
you from being able to democratically elect a new board? Have you ever heard of anything this ridiculous? Each of us have just paid $36/house in legal fees to have our voting rights violated. We now have a board in place who won't give a second thought to spending thousands of dollars to prevent
you from democratically electing who
you want to represent
you.

The community had an informal meeting at the basketball court at 7pm on Monday 25 May 2009 (Memorial Day). A lot of people attended and very positive discussion about a resolution to this problem ensued. Everybody in the community wants democracy with an elected board and everybody is hopping mad that the board has wasted $5,400 of their money unnecessarily on legal fees.
