The HOA provides a time-limited blanket approval for trees to be planted at the back of houses in Tatum Village to incentivize tree planting.

Research done by the USDA Forest Service in Portland OR showed that trees in the streets surrounding houses increase the value of a house by an average of $7020 which is equivalent to increasing the size of a house by 106 square feet. This would increase the property value in our community by $1,045,980.
Our community currently has trees and plants at the front of our houses but nothing at the back. The bleak concrete is an eyesore and depresses the value of our houses. Trees in these streets will improve our quality of life and the value of our properties.
The community will be cooler in the summer with more trees.
A recent study called "The Value of Shade: Estimating the Effect of Urban Trees on Summertime Electricity Use" show the savings to be $25/year in Sacramento. APS state that: "...the proper placement of only three trees will save an average household between $100 and $250 in energy costs annually."

Take a look at the two photos below. The first is a view down the alley between Rosemonte and Morrow Dr. Ignore the trees at the end of the alley - they belong to the community to the east of us. The second photo is of one of the streets in the small community to the east of us. Notice the tree lined street. All the streets in this community are tree lined. This community and the trees are about 22 years old. This is what our community could start looking like in 10 to 20 years.

Migration of roots under driveways
- To address this issue I went to Moon Valley Nurseries and spoke to them. They stated that if the tree is planted correctly that roots will not be an issue.
Satellite dishes may be blocked
- I contacted Dish Networks and they stated that there are two solutions to this problem:
  - Move the satellite dish to a new location
  - Trim the tree
